Gucci by Gucci Fragrance
Frida Giannini: empowered and enchanting. Or so that’s the premise behind Gucci by Gucci, her first signature fragrance for the iconic Italian fashion house, where she has been creative director of women’s, men’s, and accessories since 2006. Introduced to editors on Wednesday evening in a penthouse on the 89th floor of the Trump World Tower at the United Nations Plaza, the marvelous scent, which bears the house name, represents more than an 85-year tradition of craftsmanship and luxury; it’s also the template for a signature fragrance for the accomplished and modern woman, and a revolutionary new introduction from one of the most recognized luxury fashion brands in the world.
The fragrance, due to arrive in Gucci boutiques and select upscale department stores in late October/early November, is a rich, soulful chypre scent charmed by exotic notes and warm florals. The top of the fragrance emerges with an exotic blend of guava and pear; the heart of it adds a rich, sensual femininity with a creaminess brought on by the Tahitian Tiare flower; and finally, the strength of the patchouli is intermingled with musky notes and honey, which add sensuality and warmth—not much different from Giannini herself, born in the sunny clime of Rome, who represents a true embodiment of Italian style.
The Gucci by Gucci flacon—a vintage, faceted brown glass bottle—is designed to capture the rich spirit of the house’s traditions. Modernized by sleek, powerful lines and an elusive profile, the brand’s hallmark is remembered in the form of its jewelry: an iconic, golden horse bit necklace that symbolizes femininity. Remaining true to its elegant roots, the signature of the house’s founding father, Guccio Gucci, is scripted in gold. This, together with the iconic Gucci moniker on the glass, serves as an eye-catching and timeless homage to art deco that both delights and inspires.
The opulent, chocolate brown outer packaging, wrapped in ribbon inspired by the iconic Gucci webbing, exudes a preciousness echoing Giannini’s powerful yet feminine aesthetic. Once opened, the adored interlocking GG pattern is revealed, emblazoned in gold on the packaging interior.
The ad campaign for Gucci by Gucci, previewed exclusively by The Daily, exudes an equally musky and rich aura, featuring Raquel Zimmermann, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Natasha Poly, each clad in Gucci dresses and fine jewelry, in a series of seductive poses with the oversized bottle of the fragrance in their grasp.
